Raking is one of the many methods of getting a lock to open. Especially for locks in the low-sec range (lower security), raking is an extremely effective variant, since the entire row of pins is set in motion at the same time and the pins are quickly "raked" into the correct position. When secondary elements are added, or when there are security pins in the lock, it becomes much more difficult, but the sad truth is that a very large proportion of residential locks simply do not include such elements.

When it comes to locksport, raking is often not the first choice, since it is a "random attack" and value is often placed on a controlled opening, but as soon as you look around at competitions, you quickly see it again.
